Adaptations of Tropical Rainforest Plants
Water
The leaves of many plants and trees have a waxy coating to make the water slide off of the plant to reduce fungi and bacteria growth on it. Drip tips are at the tip of a leaf and also help to speed up the water as is falls off the leaf and on to the ground.
Resivoirs
Some plants that grow on others absorb water in a central resivoir rather than through their roots. As the water collects in the resivoir, hairs on the leaves absorb it into the plant. Usually the plants that use this method are climbing ontop of other plants.
Sunlight
Since most plants grow on the ground, in the rainforest since very little sunlight reaches the floor some of the plants climb and grow on other plants to reach sunlight.
